A golf lover’s delight Royal Deeside is famed for the aesthetic qualities of its golf courses and our own Loch of Aboyne Golf Course is no exception. Pine woodlands, a tranquil loch, a vista of granite topped mountains: there’s certainly plenty to please the golfer’s eye. Plenty of challenges lie in wait too. We’ve also added a first-class driving range, so you can work on that all-important long-game between rounds.

Our loch-side Whisky Bar has a selection of over sixty malts and blends from some of Scotland’s most famous distilleries and we offer wines from the best vineyards in the world. Alternatively, you may like to visit our Reflect Spa and enjoy a well deserved relaxing massage treatment. If you’re looking to play some of the famous courses to be found in Royal Deeside and the wider Scottish Highlands, then ‘The Lodge’ provides an excellent base.

We have a number of outstanding 18 hole courses on our doorstep, including Peterculter, Braemar, Ballater, Aboyne and Banchory, and some top-notch 9 hole courses too, including Tarland, Lumphanan, Torphins and Inchmarlo, not to mention our own unique two 9 hole courses the Tiger and the Pussycat. Whilst some of the classic Scottish links courses, such as the Royal Aberdeen, Murcar Links, Cruden Bay and Trump International are less than an hour drive away. Our exclusive Golfing Breaks allow you to spend your days testing your game against some of the finest courses in Royal Deeside and the Scottish Highlands, then spend your evenings enjoying the tranquil setting, luxury facilities and warm hospitality of ‘The Lodge’. The Tiger and Pussycat are back! From our original concepts we have redesigned the layouts of the Tiger and Pussycat courses to give golfers the option of a challenging 9, or a less demanding 9 hole course to develop their skills.

The Tiger, a 9 hole course with par 3, 4, and 5 holes is designed to offer all the challenges of a championship course on a compact 9 hole layout. This course makes you think of every stroke you take from Tee to Green, with water hazards, island greens, uphill approaches, tricky contours not to mention a few bunkers here and there. It also presents a test for all golfers including low handicap golfers as well as those looking to develop their golfing skills.

The Pussycat on the other hand has been completely redesigned to offer the beginner and casual golfers a friendlier 9 hole course that will encourage the development of their basic golfing skills. The Pussycat is primarily a longish Par 3  course with some par 4’s for Ladies and Juniors. The unique aspect of this course is that it has been designed with fairways from Tee to Green, yet still with a few challenging  holes and some tricky approaches. This course is a great place to develop the golfing skills for beginner and improving golfers alike, not to mention a great location to play out the challenges of family golf outings.

Driving Range

Let’s be honest, we could all do with improving and perfecting our long-game. Our four bay driving shelter has a range which allows even the mightiest of hitters to flex their muscles. We provide top-quality golf balls too, so any shanks or slices will have to be put down to prevailing winds. The Loch of Aboyne Golf Course is open to non-residents and non-members.

We also offer Golf Days as part of our exclusive ‘Corporate away-days and team-building weekends.’ These are bespoke events, tailor-made to your company’s requirements, and include exclusive use of the Loch of Aboyne Golf Course.
