Golf course & driving range

The Lodge on the Loch of Aboyne is an Excellent Golf Venu just 30 minutes from Aberdeen
‘The Donald’ still waits to excavate his first bunker while our members and visitors are out there narrowly (or not) dodging ours.

The Aboyne Loch Golf Centre always hits the spot for a quick round on a still evening or for a full catered weekend outing.   Accommodation, bar, bistro, restaurant and lochside barbecue are only ever a short putt away.  There’s even a choice of 9 hole layout with our variable tee course and a chance to perfect that swing at our innovative, mobile 6 bay driving range – the only one of its kind in the UK.

A beguilingly calm 4,4,3,3, approach up to the 5th hole, followed by a quirky 5,3,5 sequence and a deceptive 4,3 finish makes for an interesting round on the original awe-inspiringly scenic and aptly named south facing 9 hole golf course – The Tiger.  Some would call some of the holes ‘classic’.  Presumably in the same way that the thumbscrew was a ‘classic’ instrument of polite questioning.  It will take more than one round – and a few roars – at this whimsical 5,200 yard course full of little surprises before the spectacular tee position of the last, and signature hole, stops being a distraction … or an excuse.

The 3600 yard long Pussy Cat 9 hole golf course is predominantly designed for game enhancement but will still challenge the longest of hitters.  Same hazards, same views, same frustrations.  Just mixed up a bit.  Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the name.

Safeguarded to the North by Queens Hill and Mortlich forests and loomed over by Clachnaben, Mount Keen and Glentanar, a more spectacular course would be hard to find … anywhere.
